Diabetes is the first service-line SEO, editing and strategy project that I have completed for Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. More are on the way.

As a footnote, this relationship is also a testament to the unique networking opportunities that social media provides: PCH and I connected through Twitter.

Zócalo | Copywriting + Public Relations + Strategy

This very challenging but rewarding collateral project for Zócalo in Sacramento, California earned a 2003 Sacramento Art Directors Club Addy Award.

Working with longtime collaborator, designer and marketing guru Ernesto Delgado of e|fire creative, I did extensive research to craft what would become one of my signature styles of edgy copy for one of Sacramento’s hippest and highly regarded restaurants.

Along with providing copy and art direction for the collateral, I also wrote media releases and content (including news and feature articles) and print advertisement copy, as well as contributing marketing and media strategy to promote Zócalo’s launch.

Ernesto and I have since repeated our success with El Patrón Bar & Grill, and I am currently directing all marketing content and strategy for a tequila bar & grill that he is opening in 2010.

Merchant Circle | Blogs + Newsletters + SEO + Ghostwriting

I’ve worked with the explosively expanding Silicon Valley startup Merchant Circle for a couple of years, ghostwriting and editing content for their clients’ blogs, newsletters and online advertising. In that time, I’ve contributed hundreds of blogs and articles.

My work with Merchant Circle is perhaps one of the finest examples of both my versatility (Merchant Circle’s clients span a very diverse spectrum of industries, markets and sectors) and dependability (assignments are delivered throughout the week; although expected turnaround time is within the next 3–5 days, I usually deliver content within 48 hours and often on the same day).

Sandman Records | Copywriting + Editing + Desktop Publishing

I produced the CD package for this 2009 Grammy Award nominee album by Lanny Sherwin and Sandman Records of Santa Barbara, California.

Along with layout design and typography (including the cover logo) and all pre-production, I also edited and provided additional copy to existing content.

The cover illustration was painted by none other than my father, illustrator Theo Rudnak (with an obvious nod to Mr. Salvador Dalí for the concept!).

This project was a return to our roots for both of us, on many levels. In addition to being the first project on which we have collaborated on since working together on many others in previous years, it was his first illustration in quite some time (he has since transitioned into fine arts and non-commercial work).

For me, it was my first significant desktop publishing project since producing the San Mateo County Medical Association‘s 2008 Membership Directory and Desk Reference.

Although I fully enjoy my work in online communications, it was fun to produce something that required printing and resulted in a physical product.
